Natalie CLOSE is a Lecturer at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. Natalie holds a na Masters in Visual Anthropology, and a PhD in Anthropology. She teaches predominantly English-medium content classes focusing on Japanese popular culture to Japanese students, as well as anthropology classes for international students. Natalie’s educational research interests include tourism and the Cool Japan campaign, specifically the international perception of Japanese popular culture. She is also interested in other aspects of Japanese culture, including specifically the different linguistic cultures of Okinawa. She is currently collaborating on creating a multimedia visual project on this theme.
