Alejandro M. SANZ GUILLEN is a Predoctoral Fellow and PhD candidate in Art History at University of Zaragoza. His research focuses on the construction of the image of Japan in Western countries through the illustrated European books published at seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, exploring how the first images about Japan were built in Europe and how those first stereotypes evolve. He is a member of the Japan Group (Grupo Japón), interdisciplinary research group of the University of Zaragoza on Japanese studies and of the Japan and Spain Group: relationships through art (España y Japón: relaciones a través del arte), created with the aim of the study of the presence and impact of Japanese art in Spain.
